Hunks and Me :P

Posted by Freelancer at 2:49 PM 4 comments

Ahem Ahem...

hullo dahlings...long time.... Anyway, am back! (always a privilege being the only guy in an all-girls-blog)

Maithili always manages to find discussions that are always girl oriented. And I had enough of it. So here's my post of *drumroll* 'the men in my life'

And noooo, I won't be talking of my superhero dad or wonderman 'grand-dad' or my-ball-scratching-neighbour. Its time to talk about those MEN in my life...who err...are special...for good or worse, I'll remember them...and love/hate/curse them.

1. Abhijit

One of the oldest school buddies. You can call him my langotiya yaar, since I remember him from the time we used to wear shorts to school and a water bottle around our necks. He was a bully... well no, his huge girth made him look like a bully but then he was too silent and inside that huge body of his was a thousand teddy bears. But then at the age of 13-14, I was one of the most accomplished rule-breaker and hence, Abby was the butt of my jokes and limitless pranks.

Oh he fought back. Almost shoved a fork inside me and threw the teacher's chair straight at me, but because I watched Matrix, I was able to escape certain disfigurement. But we were good friends even then. After the blood frenzy stopped, we used to steal tiffin boxes and teased the girls.

Now he's in the United Kingdom, an avid Liverpool fan and we never stop insulting each other's football clubs over twitter whenever we get the chance. I miss that huge giant. I really do :(

2. Manas

Manas (M.J) Goswami, he looks like a foreigner, with his light colored hair and over 6'2" height, he's one of my best friend. And we're like :

"dude, when you coming back...am frigging lonely..."
"err...whattt??"
"I mean am frigging home alone, you ass"
"err...whaaaaaaaaat???"
"jerk...you know what i mean...i need someone to make this life exciting"
"whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttt...ok lol lol..I will be there soon..make some plans, call whoever is in town..."

And then we meet in the evening...have momos, smoke and after 15 minutes...

"dude, wtf are we doing here like gay couples?"
"you called me ass...i had nothing to do at home anyway'

another 5 minutes later,

"isn't there anyone else in this city other than me and you?? where the the girls??"
"no idea...let's go anyway...we'll meet tomorrow again"
"yep..gimme a call"

And the whole thing lasted 30 minutes...

The funny thing is we do not need to stay in touch all the time...guys rarely do that...but I can count on him to have my back anytime. Our girls even made us promise not to share anything personal with the girls with each other. That actually helps since right now he's committed to one of my sister and I'd rather not know how he manages his hormones.

3. Vickram

Now that's my cousin bro...the one with whom I live nowadays (along with 2 other girls...but that's not the issue here)

He's the one who has problems being a gay...well he's not actually gay..he just waxes his body and wears pink t-shirts that makes his girlfriend mad. But other than that, he's super fun (when he is not behaving like a girl)

Hmm...who else?

Oh yes, a certain 70 year old maths teacher that gave me the thrashing of a lifetime when he came to knew that I put a stray dog inside his brand new car when he just gave me 1/40 in a maths test.

Another certain Chemistry teacher, who made me sit in the first bench every frigging day since I used to keep chatting with this certain girl (another of my fav sister) and he was uncomfortable with the fact that she might pay me more attention than him. Yeah, i guess he was into kids.

A certain guy in a shopping mall who hit on me because he thought i was gay!! I mean c'mon! Am i not supposed to tie my long hair and wear skinny jeans? I've a flat ass for God's sake!

Oh well, I guess these are the ones I will never forget. There are lot of other guys and double of girls, but its time to wrap up this post.

P.S| I will post a recipe soon (this will be a veggie recipe, so you may not kill me)

Up. Up and Away

Posted by Freelancer at 4:44 PM 0 comments
Today, When you talk of TV shows, the first few thoughts are F.R.I.E.N.D.S, HIMYM, Dexter, Castle, TBBT and a few more.

Yes, I admit they are good. Though I would rate Castle as okay and HIMYM as blah, still they manage to have a dedicated fan following.  What's more important is that except for F.R.I.E.N.D.S and the occasional few, these are new-age shows and hence they haven't struck a chord in my heart. YET.

Therefore, I will review them later. Now, its time to review my second most favorite show in the whole world.

SMALLVILLE [2001-2011]

The name Smallville itself is iconic. People like me would recognize the name even in an instant. Even if there was no tv show with this name. The name Smallville is synonymous with the title, 'The Man of Steel' whom Lois Lane and the world gave the name 'Superman'

Smallville is a 10 season long epic tv show of Clark Kent, of his life before he donned the famous red and blue cape, before the world knew him as Superman. Every superhero has a beginning and CW hit the jackpot when they aired Smallville in 2001. This is the story of Clark Kent and it starts with meteor showers over Smallville. This is the show of honesty, valor, friendship, duty and love. This is the show of sacrifice in the face of a greater good. Smallville grew with me or rather, I grew with smallville. When people say, that shows like Power Rangers or even F.R.I.E.N.D.S guided them through their years, I can proudly say that this one show never never never managed to disappoint me.

And when it ended this year, the whole world sighed. Superman came to the world when Smallville ended, but we were with him on his incredible journey to be that man of steel.

With a cast of Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Erica Durance (drools), Laura Vandervoort (more drools), Allison Mack and a lot more, this show churned one epic episode after another for 10 whole years. Clark's love for Lana, the relationship with his once-friend-turned-greatest-nemesis Lex Luthor, his friendship with Chloe, the arrival of one girl whom the world recognizes with Superman, Lois Lane, Smallville is one show that I cried for when it ended.

I wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
'bout a home I'll never see
It may sound absurd
But don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed

This rightly sums of the some of Clark's life. I remember introducing this show to my girl. And soon after that my late night talk with her got substituted with Smallville. And when we had the time to talk, it was all about Smallville :P

This is one show I'd ask everyone to watch. Even if you aren't a fan of superheroes, this is a show that has much much more. The unwavering loyalty of friendship between Clark and Chloe, the first love of Clark's until Lois comes to his life, the honor in doing the right thing, the rising to the occasion when the need arrives, SMALLVILLE is and always be a show I will keep watching forever!

Miss you Superman. Miss you Lois Lane.

Even Superheroes have doubts. Even superheroes have the right to dream.

Some memorable quotes :

Jimmy: "Regardless, you call Clark before you dial 911. I mean, what's he gonna do, dismantle the bomb with his great hair?"

Lex Luthor: "you were right about me all along, Mr. Kent.I am the villain of the story."

Chloe: How are you ever going to live without Clark?
Lois: One word – blissfully.

"When you're on stage today I'm going to be looking up at you and be thinking one thing." -Lois
"What's that?"-Clark
"Please God don't let him trip."-Lois

Lois: Doctor says I shouldn't talk too much.
Clark: That's too bad.
Lois: Don't get your hopes up, Smallville - it's not permanent.

To end it with the perfect song, originally sung by 'Five for Fighting' and performed by David Gray.  The most heart-touching song ever!

How you doin'?

Posted by Freelancer at 4:49 PM 14 comments
How come so less posts this month??

I am not a Darling, so I am not eligible to post much.

Apart from the cuisine posts and a few occasional funny ones, I am starting a new series here

The TV Show Guide. Shows that you should watch and God forgive you, if you haven't.

Even though its a girl blog, don't expect me to write about Vampire Diaries, OC, Desperate Housewives, Living with the Kardashians or Jersey Shore. Yuck!!

Anyway, One show that you all heard about and loved and some of you might have found overhyped is F.R.I.E.N.D.S

To the ones who doesn't like this show enough, well imaginary balls to you!!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S is the greatest sitcom ever. Yes, its better than Frasier!

1994-2004. What makes FRIENDS an irrefutable part of us??

The best thing about FRIENDS is that it's not a one man show. Its a frigging ensemble. Apart from Courtney Cox, no one was high profile. No, not even Jennifer Aniston at that time. F.R.I.E.N.D.S made us wish we were a part of them. The characters were instantly loveable. Be it Monica's neurotic nature to goofy Joey. Be it Ross over pronouncing every word to sarcastic Chandler. Be it weird yet so funny Phoebe to the damsel in distress Rachel. FRIENDS had it all and much much more.

It all began at Central Park. When Rachel runs away from her marriage and bumps into the gang. Well not really, it started when Chandler needed a new roommate and finds Joey. That one was hilarious episode.

We have laughed our asses off to Janice's OH MY GAWWWWD, rofled till your stomach hurt whenever Phoebe started singing one of her crazy songs. The best thing about FRIENDS is that, they never failed to disappoint us. Never, not even one episode. The side characters, the special guests, they were all brilliant. Remember Emily?? The one where Ross was supposed to marry?? She was soo soo awesome. Remember the episode where Julia Roberts literally steals the pants off Chandler or the episode where Brad Pitt and Ross form an anti-Rachel club. Hilarious shit.

I miss F.R.I.E.N.D.S. I miss them so much that i watch atleast one episode every day and yet still miss them.

To understand F.R.I.E.N.D.S, to love them, you need to watch from Episode 1, Season 1.

That was the beginning. That was the beginning of my childhood.

Some Memorable Quotes :

Rachel: Can you take care of Emma just for today?
Ross: Sure, just lend me your breasts and we'll be on our way.

Monica: What you guys don't understand is, for us, kissing is as important as any part of it.
Joey: Yeah, right!... Y'serious?
Phoebe: Oh, yeah!
Rachel: Everything you need to know is in that first kiss.
Monica: Absolutely.
Chandler: Yeah, I think for us, kissing is pretty much like an opening act, y'know? I mean it's like the stand-up comedian you have to sit through before Pink Floyd comes out.
Ross: Yeah, and-and it's not that we don't like the comedian, it's that-that... that's not why we bought the ticket.
Chandler: The problem is, though, after the concert's over, no matter how great the show was, you girls are always looking for the comedian again, y'know? I mean, we're in the car, we're fighting traffic... basically just trying to stay awake.
Rachel: Yeah, well, word of advice: Bring back the comedian. Otherwise next time you're gonna find yourself sitting at home, listening to that album alone.
Joey: [pause] ... Are we still talking about sex?

Monica: Guys can fake it? Unbelievable! The one thing that's ours!

Ross: I figured after work, I'd pick up a bottle of wine, go over there, and try to... woo her.
Chandler: Hey, you know what you should do? Take her back to the 1800's when that phrase was last used.

Monica: Rach, it's the Visa card people.
Rachel: Oh, God, ask them what they want.
Monica: [on the phone] Could you please tell me what this is in reference to? Yes, hold on.
[to Rachel]
Monica: Um, they say there's been some unusual activity on your account.
Rachel: But I haven't used my card in weeks.
Monica: That is the unusual activity.

Chandler: I can handle this. "Handle" is my middle name. Actually, "handle" is the middle of my first name.

Joey: Hey Ross. If homo sapiens were in fact "homo sapiens", could that be why they're extinct?
Ross: Joey, homo sapiens are people.
Joey: Hey! I'm not judging here.

Rachel: See? Unisex.
Joey: Maybe *you* need sex. I just had it a few days ago.
Rachel: No, Joey, U-N-I-sex.
Joey: I wouldn't say no to that.

Chandler: Where's Joey? His mom's on the phone.
Monica: He's in the bathroom... I don't think you wanna go in there!
Chandler: C'mon, we're roommates... Aaaaaaaagh! My eyes! My eyes!

Joey: Of course it was a line!
Monica: Why? Why? Why would anyone do something like that?
Ross: I assume we're looking for an answer more sophisticated than, "to get you into bed."

[On living alone]
Joey: I thought it'd be great, you know? have some time alone with my thoughts... turns out, I don't have as many thoughts as you'd think.

**************************************

You just can't hate this show! Let me just wrap it up with Phoebe's version of the famous song
"Smelly cat, smelly cat,
what are they feeding you???
Smelly cat, smmmmeelllllllly cat..
Its not your fault......."

Chicken L'Orange

Posted by Freelancer at 10:49 PM 5 comments
CHICKEN L'ORANGE

[pssstt...its a microwave dish, try on wok at your own risk]

What you need :

1. Chicken [700grams to 1 kg]
2. Cornflour
3. Orange juice
4. Chilli powder
5. Soya Sauce
6. Mustard Sauce/paste
7. Ginger garlic paste/garlic paste
8. Salt/pepper

9. Capsicum and tomato (for garnish)
10. and a real crave for chicken :D

How to prepare :

Put the chicken in the microwave bowl and introduce 1 cup Orange juice to it. If you pour more, the taste will be more tangy and not to your liking. Add 1 tbsp garlic paste, mustard paste and soya sauce. Also add 2-3 tbsp chili powder and salt as per taste. The chili powder is mainly for the coloring. If you don't like spicy food, don't worry, it won't be.

Mix well and put it in the microwave. You can cover it with a lid. I prefer leaving it open. Turn the juice upto 100% power and cook for 20-25 minutes. Or less. You can always pause and check to see if its properly cooked and taste for salt. When its done, put the chicken pieces in a different dish and keep the liquid in the bowl.

Now to make the sauce. Add 2 tbsp cornflour in the liquid. Stir well so that it dissolves properly. Put the liquid with cornflour back into the microwave and cook at 80% power for 5-8 minutes until it thickens. That's it. Pour the sauce over the chicken pieces and serve hot.

Nom nom nom nom

Cooking is fun when you experiment and learn....

Chicken Jalfrezi

Posted by Freelancer at 11:00 PM 15 comments

CHICKEN JALFREZI

ORIGIN - Indian

ABOUT THE DISH : Chicken Jalfrezi is an Indian speciality dish with marinated chicken stir cooked in oil and with spices.

WHAT YOU NEED :
Chicken (boneless preferably)
Oil (6 tablespoon)
Onions (finely chopped)
Capsicum (1 or 2) (cut)
Lime Juice (2 teaspoon)
Chilli powder (1 teaspoon)
Tomato Puree (1/2 cup)
Ginger Garlic Paste
Garam Masala (1 teaspoon) [depends on you]
Tomatoes (2) [Cut]

HOW TO PREPARE -

Forget everything. Start with the chicken.

Cut it into medium pieces. Too small and you wouldn't want that.

Mix salt, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder and lime juice in a bowl. Introduce them to the chicken. Mix well and marinate for 2 hours.

Now for the rest of the ingredients. Take a pan and put 2 tablespoon of oil. When the oil is hot, pour the chopped onions and saute. i.e stir till you get a golden shade of onions. I guess most of you have done the basic level of cooking. If not, all you have to do is just keep stirring intermittently every few seconds..we don't want to burn the onions or ourselves....

When that is achieved pour the tomato puree. 1/2 cup or less, depending on the amount of chicken you have. More than 1/2 cup is a sure disaster, mind you. The taste would be too tangy and then you will have to look for substitutes to negate it. keep in mind that you even put lemon juice in the marinade. So no more puree for you. Stir for 5-7 mins till a thick paste is obtained. You might want to make sure that you don't stir a lot. That done, keep it aside.

2 hours later, bring back the marinated chicken. Take another pan/wok and heat 4 tablespoon of oil and introduce the tomato puree and onion paste you kept aside to it. [Note- if you don't care about gaining weight, try cooking with butter instead of oil. One helluva aroma and taste!] Add the marinated chicken and let it cook till its ready. Add capsicum for flavor and add salt as per taste. Cook covered if you want gravy.

Make a garnish with tomatoes and serve hot.

That's it folks.

P.S| can't help taking a dig at Paanipuri lover. Darling, you might be pleased to know that more than enough guys know how to cook. Some are happy with preparing maggi and some like me [doesn't try to be modest] are excellent cooks.
Just so you know.

P.P.S| Sorry didn't have own pics

Life through a Sperm's eye

Posted by Freelancer at 9:08 PM 19 comments

Remember Pyaar ka Punchnama???
YES, i just wanted to let you know what the male species feels about their counterparts. *flexes muscles*

So DARLINGS' of VENUS,
why VENUS?? why not JUPITER or MERCURY?? We all heard about the book and the phrase called "MEN ARE FROM MARS AND WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS". Ever wondered why?? VENUS as a planet is one cunning bitch! Its not that nearer to the sun to be extremely hot but still manages to give us the fake illusion of being a close ally when it itself is quite inhospitable. Same goes with the female species.

For many years, we have been blamed for being unreasonable and pig-headed.
Lets break the myth okay. We, males are extremely simple and have simple needs. Food, Friends, Sleep and Sex [FFSS] True, sex dominates the rest....so???? Give us one or all the four and we won't complain. We hardly do that anyway. And what do girls need?? Everything. Everything has to be according to them. I can see all of you authors of the blog vehemently denying this....but c'mon, who are you kidding? And when you don't get things your way, out comes a complaint that we just need YOUR time.

I have seen committed girls ready to give up friends just so they can chat with their boyfriend. Boys, on the other hand are not like that. Boys are more likely to forget their girls when they are out with their friends. And no matter how much you fight with him, he is not going to change that trait. So here's a few pointers to all the girls out there who have boyfriends or might find one in the near and distant future.

1. Learn to cook
Guys will forget their mom's food if you can dish out a delicious dish once or twice.

2. Watch and try to learn about his favorite sport
A night with your guy watching football or baseball and cheering their favorite team or player will mean a lot to him.

3. Do NOT bring out old wounds or his mistakes when you argue

NEVER DO THAT. Fight and be done with it. No one wants to remember them days later.

4. Listen to his favorite band

Yes, love for same music may yet take your love a long way.

5. Be friends with his friends
Most times than not, this is actually better. BUT that doesn't mean that you should tag along with them everytime. Guys need their guy-time.

6. Experiment in BED
Break free from the stupid missionary position and surprise him. Love making will reach new heights. [speaking from experience] *looks around*

7. Be friends with his mom

He will always be a momma's boy. Now he has nothing to worry about.

8. The Boob factor
Boys love BOOBS. You know what to do!

9. CUDDLING... GIFT OR CURSE? Figure it out
Some guys love cuddling. Some, like me, can hardly breathe. Know what your guy likes. Its not that the guy always has to do it your way.

10. MEN are not DOGS
Ahem...Not all men are dogs. You people should stop comparing every guy to a bastard you have met or heard about. Seriously, do you see us calling you names even though there are more than twice sluts in this world than gigolos?? Yes, keep this in mind when you decide to call me a DOG too after reading this post :P

Phew! Anyway, done for now! Will come back soon for a culinary recipe. Will make sure i don't post more than 2 posts this month. Don't want to lose the admin job yet :P

See you later ladies...
