The Usual We !

Posted by Smita at 4:08 PM 4 comments
It had been a usual blue Monday so far.
Who feels like waking up early   Monday Morning to go to office after a lovely Sunday.
Lovely Sunday included long bike rides, Pasta,  Race – 2 movie (Alright, I only enjoyed the dresses and my fav song ‘Lat lag gayi’) and KFC Zing –Kong box.

But somehow, you cannot escape the whole office cycle, unless and until you are planning to go for higher studies or you are planning to leave project (or being thrown out of it – depends)

So, the lazy Monday started.
Somehow got up and prepared myself for work.
Reached office.
Opened my stupid Desktop.
Connected to Microsoft Exchange (read Outlook)
Waited for my TL nad assign me some work. (I really hoped for work today)
But eventually all failed.

No work.
No fun.

Sitting idle, a fellow team member came and we went for lunch.
Boring lunch.

The usual round of talks (read gossip, bitching, mocking) was going on.
The usual round of eating ( read snatching or envying what other had ordered ).
The usual stuff was going on.

Suddenly I felt like vomiting.
The body temperature had gone up.
I was all boiling sitting there in the shade.
(Okay, I was having a bad throat since morning and  a bit exhausted too)

I decided to go to wellness room.
The forehead, the hands, everything made me believe I was having fever.
I got the doctor to check my temperature.
While the thermo-meter was in my mouth, recording the body’s heat, I was preparing in my mind to leave office early.
Fever being first reason for my TL to send me off earlier and no work being the second.

But then, the doctor’s word made it all disappear.
“It’s normal”.
I was not disappointed (I swear to GOD )
I came back to my workstation smiling (as I didn’t want to give my parents another reason as fever to worry about me today).
And believe it or not, but still the body was tired, the temperature was there but now the sad depressing feeling of fever was gone after hearing her words “It’s normal”.

The human mind is just so simple to control I must say!
We feel good the moment we are told we are fine.
And we feel depressed the moment we are made to realize that.

COLOURS AND WOMEN

Posted by Raumali Dasgupta at 1:20 PM 2 comments
The festival of Holi is here. I couldn’t get a more relevant post on this day. Have you ever wondered what does each colour clothes you wear signify? Here’s something I think you will enjoy.

If you wear RED you are impulsive, excitable, energetic, ambitious and like things to happen quickly when you want them to do so. Red is a good stimulant and the amount of red is directly related to the amount of energy perceived.

If you wear BLUE you are creative, perceptive, sensitive, intelligent, self-reliant and have a great depth of feeling. You have a good imagination and practical approach to life. Blue invokes calmness and rest. Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable and committed. You like to do things in your own time and not be rushed.

If you wear GREEN you are a cautious person and not inclined to trust others easily. You are an observer in life but don’t wish to get involved more than you are supposed to. Green is seen as tranquil and refreshing

If you wear WHITE you have a positive, well-balanced and optimistic personality. White projects purity, cleanliness and neutrality. You seek a simplified life-style free from outside pressures

If you wear BROWN you are a honest, down to earth person who likes a structured supported lifestyle. It signifies stability, reliability and approachability. A lover of the best things life has to offer, you are a sensous type

If you wear PURPLE you are intuitive and have deep feelings and high aspirations. You are sensitive and compassionate so can be easily imposed upon. You are interested to be the best in everything including friends.

j        If you wear ORANGE you are competent, self oriented and impatient. Orange is the colour of practicality and creativity. You are excitable and seek dominance over others.

If you wear BLACK you are a strong willed, opinionated and disciplined person. Black is authoritative and powerful because black can evoke strong emotions too much can be overwhelming. You are too inflexible and too independant.

If you wear YELLOW you have an interesting and stimulating personality. Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment and happiness. You like to be active in whatever is going on.

The gift of light

I used to believe it when mother said aunt Dorothy had got white roses for me. I used to believe when father would drive me to beach and describe the sky a painting of crimson and blue. I used to believe Trish when she told me that she bought me a green shirt. I used to believe Vikram when he announced to us that his new pet is a golden retriever. I used to believe Shanti aunty, our maid, when she promised me that I was wearing brown shoes for school. I used to believe Raman Sir when he said he gave me purple, orange and green sketches to colour during class. I also believed him when he said I used the purple sketch the most.

I didn't have much choice back then. My world was a monotonous black and that's the only colour I knew. I had to agree with my family when they said it was dawn and when it was dusk, I couldn't tell the difference; I lived in a dark world. When the festival of lights came I only heard the noise outdoors and smelt the delicious food. It felt like life was laid out for me and I just had to follow it like clock work. Everybody around me helped me take in the surroundings, they told me of the beauty of this world and the wonderous creations of God. It pained me not be able to see who I am, to see how pretty Trish looked on her wedding day, to see how beautiful the night sky looked with a lone moon to light it up. But then I knew my world as it was told to me and I accepted it.

Today I can see that I actually used the purple sketch the most. I hear the birds chirp as I walk past the park and I know that they are happy to see me just as I am to see them. I give aunt Dorothy white roses and she gives me a warm hug. I take dad out on a drive and thank him for all the times he drove me up to the beach and he is happy when I tell him his illustration of the setting sun was almost accurate. I see Sparky, Vikram's pet, as he steals our cricket ball and hides it under the car and wonder what he must have been like as a pup. I see mother wipe away those tears as I clutch my college degree in my hands and I see who I am. I see the miracle of life all around me and I see beauty of this world in all it's glorious ways.

Earlier when I lived the life laid out for me, everything was portrayed so beautifully, everything so peaceful like everybody was in love and everything was perfect, but today when I can see things for myself I can't help but see more hatred than love, more horror than solace and more pain than joys. The world I knew back then is not the world I see now, what changed and why?  I can't thank God enough for bringing back light in my life and I can't express the enormous gratitude I have for the donor who chose to leave behind his legacy with me. I would never want to go back to the world of engulfing blackness but in a world filled with the green of envy and red of anger I feel I'm blind all over again!!!

I've always been in awe with colours and I can't imagine my life without them. I love to see the sun set and love to see the dance of colours at the horizon when that happens. I adore my pets and I can't stop looking at myself the days my hair blesses me with a tamed behaviour. I have found peace and wisdom by gazing up at the stars and I never could turn away from a well laid out buffet. All these are familiar to me and comforting and I can't imagine, even for a minute, what my life would be if I couldn't see these things again. Or never saw them in the first place. Disability is an encumbrance which none of us would wish on ourselves or our loved ones. I've always been fascinated by the conversations the deaf and dumb have, but blind  people affect me a lot. I've cried so many times looking at the blind try to find their way sometimes with the help of their stick sometimes with the help of us normal people. All of us feel for them I'm sure, but how many of us do anything at all about what we feel. We take some of our basic gifts for granted, a gift like sight being one of them!!! People like Helen Keller and Franklin Roosevelt I'm sure inspire a lot of us.

How many of you remember this ad?
I think she looks much better now, but those eyes still remain just as beautiful and so does the message. If you haven't already done so please do, you could help somebody see that miracles can actually come true. To know more about pledging your eyes and how to do so visit : here, here or here. I donate blood every time I go over 45 kilos, I've already pledged my eyes, so this year I wanted to do a little more. On my B'day I'll be spending the entire day with the blind and here after if possible every weekend at a school for the blind orphans. There are still among us who believe that those who don't find their roots remain demented for life,  for such people more giving than the rest of us I say!!! Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference. Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting!!!

Bring in the new year in style people :D :D :D.
XOXO
P.S. Anybody willing to donate those purple eyes please contact me first :P

I'm the RAINBOW

I squirm, I squeal; I cringe, I binge; I make my own world and I make it go around on my own finger tips…I’m elegant and beautiful, royal just like a queen….I’m Violet and I’m hard to get ;-)

I swoon, I moan; I snare, I take care; I live life to the fullest and let regrets ride by…I’m moody and I ruminate….I’m Indigo and it’s time to let go :(

I screech, I beseech; I crave, I cave; I look up at the sky and say beyond you is my destiny…I’m a bundle of contradictions and a picture of joy…I’m Blue..sigh if only you knew :'(

I’m greed, I have an obsessive need; I horde, I do go overboard; I like pretty little things and big mean things…shoes, perfumes, bags fill me up with envy…I’m Green…watch out I’m going for your spleen :-X

I diverge, I converge; I bounce, I’ll pounce; I blow my troubles away in smoke and make rickety boats to drown them in the tide of time…The spring in my step is contagious…I’m Yellow and life’s meant to rivello..:-D

I dream, I beam; I confess, I profess; I live and let live..I’m unique just like everybody else there is…I was sent here for the greater good of men-kind..I’m Orange with phew sooooooo many things to manage ;)

I strut, I’m a glut; I slay, I pray; I know life’s not a bed of roses but why not strive to make it one? I believe in the simplicity of lust and the complexity of love…I hold my opinions very dear and I make it very clear…I’m Red and I know no dread :-P

P.S (I was suddenly in the mood to get me-self a huge bunch of pretty red and white roses..I love the droplets of water on the petals and I love the red and white combi..I managed to finish my 3 post for the month just in time ; )

P.P.S (Maith: I'm signing up for interview in the month of Jan...It being my bataday month and all what better way to be the celebrity of the month than being one!!!)

P.P.P.S ( I was soooooooooo tempted to end the above excuse of a poem  with "I'm Red with an ugly head" ;-))
